Abstract

Most people assume that history is merely history, ignored, looked down upon, and underestimated, but if we examine the verses of the Qur'an, it turns out that one-third of the verses in the Qur'an discuss history. The history of Islamic culture emphasizes the ability to draw wisdom from historical events, the development of Islam, emulating accomplished figures, and linking it to social, cultural, political, economic, scientific, and other phenomena to develop Islamic culture and civilization. The formulation of the problem in this study is what is the urgency of studying the history of Islamic culture. This study uses qualitative library research, and aims to determine the concept of history and the urgency of studying the history of Islamic civilization. From this study, it can be concluded that history must be taught to every generation because there are many lessons contained in history, such as the history of Islamic civilization and the history of Indonesian civilization. So it is very important to study history itself. Islamic history and culture have always been an important part of the lives of Muslims.
